More tea party nonsense

Ok, guess I'm doing a double post today. But I couldn't pass up commenting on this npr article on the tea party: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=130535771&sc=fb&cc=fp

" 'I was unaware of what was going on around me until I retired,' says Shelby Burnett, who formerly worked at a financial company. 'And we started watching Fox News, and getting more informed on what was going on in our nation.' "

WELL! That explains everything! Anyone who thinks that watching Fox News will make them more informed is bound to be headed in the direction of misinformation and stupid decisions. If you think that listening to pundits spew their opinions, and call it news, is giving you un unbiased and clear view of this country's issues, then you might as well be living under a rock.

" 'I remember back ... when the national debt — not the deficit, but the debt — hit a trillion dollars,' he says. 'And I tried to do the math, and I was not able to figure out how in the world our country could ever pay back a trillion dollars in debt. And now we're up over 13 [trillion].' "

And when was that? Oh, back when Bush was in office. And now you're blaming Obama for not fixing Bush's mistakes fast enough.

"The activists we spoke to are very proud of the fact that there are no leaders in the Tea Party — no politicians whom they have to grit their teeth and support. They like the idea of big ideas, a longer view."

It's a party about "big ideas"?? How on earth are you going to achieve anything if you don't buckle down and make some specific decisions? How are you going to cut government spending if you don't make a clear plan for doing so? How are you going to make any of this happen without a sense of leadership?

Ok I'm done for today.
